KEYS LADY COUGARS
GIRLS
Coach: KRUZ LYNCH
23-24 Record: 15-12
The Keys Lady Cougars are gearing up for an exciting 2024 season under the leadership of head coach Kruz Lynch. After finishing last season with a 15-12 record, the Lady Cougars are poised for growth and success with a mix of returning players and promising newcomers. Coach Lynch is optimistic about the team’s potential, saying, “Our girls will be a lot of fun to watch this season. Defensively, I feel that they really get after people. We also have added a few new pieces that I think will allow us to score the ball a whole lot more. We will be young, but definitely a team with a lot of potential. My personal goal for this team is for them to get back to the area tournament.”
The Lady Cougars return several key players, including sophomore Payton Zodrow (5-9, So.), who led the team in scoring last season. Zodrow has shown significant improvement over the summer and is expected to be an even greater offensive threat this season. Alongside her is junior Kenlee Comer (5-11, Jr.), a key player who has started since her freshman year. She led the team in shooting percentages last season and continues to develop in the weight room, making her a crucial part of the Lady Cougars’ success.
One of the most exciting additions to the team is incoming freshman Paizlee Zodrow (5-7, Fr.), a dynamic scorer with a relentless defensive presence. “I feel that Paizlee is one of the best freshmen in the state,” Coach Lynch said. The addition of Paizlee will bring even more depth and scoring ability to the squad, making them a formidable force on both ends of the floor.
Freshman Adali Welker (5-10, Fr.) has also shown great promise. With her frame and athleticism, she is expected to make a significant impact as the season progresses. Another player to watch is sophomore Kallie Dougherty (5-7, So.), who is expected to play a larger role this season. She is known for her competitiveness and toughness, and Coach Lynch believes she will continue to grow and improve this year. Madison Hood (5-9, Jr.) is returning after sitting out her sophomore year due to an ACL injury. She had started every game as a freshman and will bring valuable leadership and experience to the court.
The Lady Cougars are also excited about the potential of freshman Klaire Bracken (5-8, Fr.), who brings a high basketball IQ and excellent perimeter shooting. Although Bracken is sidelined this season due to injury, Coach Lynch is confident that once she recovers, she will be a game-changer for the team. With a blend of experienced upperclassmen and talented underclassmen, the Lady Cougars are on track to improve and compete at a high level. The team’s defensive prowess, combined with the influx of new talent, gives them the tools to achieve that goal and make a serious run this season.
