Warner High School’s Jackson Foreman – Track Spotlight – Presented by Warner Eagle Pride

JACKSON FOREMAN

Warner High School Track

Warner High School junior Jackson Foreman has quickly become one of the Eagles’ most versatile contributors on the track, but he traces his success back to the people who shaped his character long before he ever settled into the starting blocks.

Foreman, a world history fan who takes the course from his favorite teacher and track coach, John Hart, said his parents are the ones who set the daily standard he tries to follow. “My mom and dad inspire me because they have shown me what it’s like to be a good person who always looks out for others,” Foreman said.

On the track, Foreman rarely has much down time. He competes in the 100-meter dash, 200, 4×100 and 4×400 relays, and even stretches up to the 800, giving Warner a reliable option in both sprint and middle-distance events. When he does get a break between races, he is usually back under the team tent resting and regrouping for the next run.

Foreman said the best part of track has little to do with times or medals. “The thing I enjoy the most about being a member of the track team is getting to hang out with my teammates,” he said. Away from meets, he keeps a similar balance, splitting his free time between friends and staying on top of his homework.

Athletics, he said, has already given him lessons he knows will matter long after high school. “Athletics has taught me what it’s like to be a leader and what it’s like to have a good work ethic,” Foreman said. He added that the best advice he has received as an athlete is simple but demanding: “Push through diversity. The ones who are most successful are the ones who never quit.”

Looking ahead, Foreman hopes to eventually add the long jump to his list of events. After graduation, he plans to attend college and pursue a career as a teacher and coach, following in the footsteps of the educators and mentors who have made an impact on him at Warner.
