The Muskogee Roughers boys track team made it two wins in a row as they took the Tahlequah Track Classic on Monday. Gold medal performances by Zion Dedmon (High Jump), Michael Puckett (Long Jump) and Miguel Chavez (Shot Put) headlined the results. Additionally, the Roughers earned medals in 3 relays to a total of 96 points and outpace Coweta with 91 points. Adrian Billingsley and Edward James earned points for Muskogee claiming medals in three events.
It was the second straight team championship following their win at the Mike Adair Invitational in Pryor last week.
The Muskogee girls totaled 66 points by earning medals in six events. Diamond Lewis swept gold medals in both hurdles events while Shabriel Williams earned points in the sprints and joined Lewis on the 4x200m relay for a third award.
“I’m so proud of our athletes for their efforts,” said Craig Perry, coordinator of track and field programs at Muskogee. “We’re competing hard in every event. We had a lot of our kids post PB’s (personal best) in today’s competition.
The Roughers return to action next Monday competing at Claremore.
