Porum High School’s Shaun Robinson

Porum High School’s Shaun Robinson is the kind of player who never minds where his name appears on the lineup card, as long as it is there. The junior says he “plays anywhere,” but he is quick to add that taking the mound is a different challenge altogether.

Robinson embraces the grind that comes with a long season, yet the memories he talks about most are not walk-off hits or big defensive plays. Instead, he points to the small moments that happen away from the spotlight, like bus rides to road games and time spent in the dugout with teammates. Those stretches of time, he says, are where the team’s personality really shows and where bonds are built that last beyond a single season.

That sense of connection is what Robinson values most about being a member of the Porum baseball program. He enjoys joking around and practicing together, finding a balance between keeping things loose and staying focused on improving. Ask him who keeps the team talking and laughing, and Robinson does not hesitate to point the finger back at himself, admitting that he is probably the most vocal presence in the group.

Away from the diamond, Robinson’s competitive streak does not slow down. He spends much of his free time “hooping,” lifting weights and playing PS5, channeling that same drive into different arenas. He credits his father as his biggest inspiration and says sports have taught him how to handle losing, a lesson he expects to carry with him long after high school.

At the plate, Robinson keeps his approach simple and aggressive. When asked for his favorite pitch to hit, he does not overthink it. For Robinson, there is nothing better than seeing a strike he can attack and doing his part to help Porum succeed.
