With the high school golf season underway, the Hilldale Hornets are charging forward with a strong team looking to reach the state tournament in May. Leading the way under coach Adam Neff is multi-sport standout Cash Schiller.

“Cash stands out not only for his talent on the course but for his leadership and character,” said Neff. “He’s the kind of leader that every coach dreams of. His presence is felt in every practice, every match and in the way he carries himself on and off the course. The younger players have learned a lot from Cash over the years. His work ethic combined with his willingness to help his teammates with their swing or offer advice makes him that ideal leader.”

Schiller is also a standout football player as a lineman or kicker and is a state champion powerlifter.

“As Cash wraps up his high school career, he leaves behind a legacy that will inspire his teammates in all of his sports for years to come. His journey serves as a reminder of the power of dedication, leadership and doing things the right way and even though he’s moving on to college football, his impact on the golf team and the entire school community will be felt for a long time,” said Neff.

Another returning player for the Hornets is junior Trey Eldridge. According to Neff, Trey is one of those guys that shine outside of the spotlight.

“Trey came to us last year as a sophomore and emerged as an underclassman to watch,” said Neff. “He quickly made a significant impact with his consistency and solid play while showing a lot of potential for growth. But his contributions extend far beyond his golf skills. His true value lies in the quiet, unspoken ways he supports his teammates. Whether it’s carrying someone’s bag during a round or offering encouragement to a struggling teammate, Trey is always there to help. He is the heart and soul of the team, and his efforts will continue to drive them forward.”

Ty Wilson is another member of the golf team that Neff is relying on this year. A three-sport athlete, Neff says that Wilson is a great example of what good character and athletic talent can do for a team.

“Whether he’s dominating in football, basketball, or golf, Ty’s commitment to excellence is clear in every game and practice. In every sport he plays Ty proves that character and work ethic are just as important as talent, making him a respected leader at Hilldale and a role model for others to follow,” stated Neff.

Neff is also excited about the play of freshman Eli Scott who he considers one of the top junior golfers in the state. With five returning starters and the addition of Scott, the Hornets are poised to be a formidable force as the season winds down.
