DARIAN DILES
Hilldale High School
Senior jumper and sprinter Darian Diles has become a steady presence for the Hilldale Hornets girls’ track team, balancing big goals on the track with an eye toward her future beyond Muskogee. The Hilldale standout is the reigning 2025 Class 4A state champion in the high jump and also runs on the 4×100 and 4×200 relays, where her versatility and consistency help set the tone. During the basketball season, Darian is a two-year starter for the girl’s team, averaging 18 points and 12 rebounds to anchor the lineup this past season and was a VYPE Top 100 selection.
Diles said the foundation for her success starts at home. “My biggest inspiration is my family, especially my parents,” Diles said. “They have always supported me in everything I do and pushed me to be my best, even when things get hard.” Watching their work ethic has shaped her own approach to practices, meets and schoolwork.
In the classroom, Diles gravitates toward history, and she credits Hilldale teacher Mrs. Riddle for always challenging her. “My favorite teacher is Mrs. Riddle because they always supported me and pushed me to do my best,” she said. That same support system extends to the track, where she said the team culture is what keeps her coming back.
“I enjoy the friendships and support from my teammates,” Diles said. “We always push each other to get better and have fun together.” On meet days, she keeps things simple between events — usually taking a nap, listening to music, talking with teammates or grabbing something to eat to stay relaxed and ready.
Athletics, Diles said, has given her lessons that reach far beyond high school. “It’s taught me discipline, hard work, and never giving up,” she said. “It also taught me how to stay motivated and work toward my goals.” After graduation, Diles plans to attend college, stay involved in track if possible and work toward a career in real estate, carrying with her the best advice she has received: trust the process, stay consistent and believe in yourself, even when things get hard.
