Fort Gibson High School’s Addison Alred
Faith, family and Fort Gibson soccer have shaped senior Addison Alred into one of the Tigers’ most grounded leaders on and off the field.
Alred, a Fort Gibson High School girls soccer standout, traces her motivation to her Christian faith. “Jesus is my ultimate inspiration and motivation,” Alred said. “I have found true support, strength and love in him and it has allowed me to be the best teammate and person that I can be.” She added that when she competes for the glory of God, she believes she “can never truly fail.”
Now a 12th grader, Alred has spent 15 years in the sport after starting soccer at age 3. She grew up watching and admiring Julie Ertz, whose toughness and work rate helped shape Alred’s own playing style. At Fort Gibson, she is known for her competitiveness on the field and consistency in the classroom, where math is her favorite subject and Mrs. Casandra Edwards has been a favorite teacher.
Alred said the “fellowship and sisterhood” of Tigers soccer is what she cherishes most. “You always have someone there for you and make such special bonds with everyone,” she said. She believes goalkeeper is the toughest position because of the pressure and limited margin for error.
Away from soccer, Alred spends most of her free time outdoors. She enjoys working out, hiking, fishing, hunting and going to the lake with her favorite people. Athletics, she said, has taught her the value of hard work and integrity, lessons she plans to carry into adulthood.
Alred also plays in memory of late teammate Kinsey Wright, whose influence remains constant. “Her drive for greatness and love for Jesus and everyone around her is something I take note of and practice every day of my life,” Alred said.
