XAVIER GLENN – Men’s Basketball
Passion is defined as an intense, enthusiastic desire or drive while energy is the physical, mental and emotional power applied to fuel that desire. Combined together, they represent focusing on what you love, providing the momentum and motivation to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals. In the life of Xavier Glenn, a member of the men’s basketball team at Northeastern State University, they are two vital ingredients that continue to play a major role to complete a lifelong yearning to find victory.
“It’s something that I learned from my mom’s examples everyday,” said Glenn. “She (Angela Bailey) could really hoop back in her day. And she taught me the importance of hard work, passion and being grateful for any opportunities in life.”
The passion for winning and the willingness to work hard to improve everyday, on and off the court is what fuels the competitive fire of the fifth year athlete at NSU who cherishes the relationships he’s formed everyday as a RiverHawk student athlete.
“I’m big on family, do whatever I can for my brothers (teammates and coaches) to help us win, said Glenn who wears the number-11 jersey. “Coach Havens and I made a connection when I was in high school at Bixby that has remained strong even though I went other places before coming back to Tahlequah this year. He always had a great plan for me to not only play basketball but find happiness and success in life.”
After three earlier journeys to play basketball on other college campuses, Glenn not only has found success on the hardwood as the RiverHawks leading scorer this season but also the excitement to graduate next May with a Health, Human Performance degree in Kinesiology and is thankful for the day-to-day support of his NSU family and friends.
“Just like my coaches and teammates standing by my side, my professors office doors are always open, they’re always willing to help any student,” Glenn said with appreciation. “The same goes for the Tahlequah community. When you come to NSU, you’re part of the family where everyone helps everyone find a way to win.”
When asked why choose NSU, Xavier Glenn didn’t hesitate to take another game winning shot.
“NSU, It’s a place that feels like home to me, where everyone is on the same team and working toward a common goal.”
