ROUGHER DANCE SHINES AT NATIONALS -sponsored by Pizza Inn

The Muskogee High School dance team delivered near flawless performances while competing at the National Dance Team Championships in Orlando Florida held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

The Roughers dance team, coached by Kyah Fields, competed in the Medium DII division of Game Day competition.

“The ‘game day’ category requires squads to bring a piece of your hometown traditions in the style of a football game,” explained Fields. “You perform your school’s fight song, a spirit raising routine (meant to get the crowd to chant with you) and a time out routine.”

With an enthusiastic and energy filled routine, the Roughers displayed their choreographed talents in the preliminary and semifinal rounds to qualify for the championship finals.

“Competition was extremely intense and I’m so proud of these girls,” Fields said with a spirit filled voice of pride. “There were three rounds and your scores in the prelims and semis gave you a chance to advance to the championship finals as one of the Top-7 teams. We brought our best and were able to compete all 3 days.”

The 17-member Muskogee dance team includes Alayce Brooks, Kristian Campbell, Allie Clemens, Channing Duncan, Avah Ervin, Olivia Gilliam, Halle Haywood, Ardyn Hughey, Ainsleigh Jamison, Abigail Jiang, Kynnli Jones, Sydnee Lane, Bryleigh Mamdo, Kaia Moore, Alexia Smith, Ella Strickland and Brooklynn Swanson coached by Kyah Fields and assistant Blair Stevens.
