POCOLA LADY INDIANS
Head Coach: Bryan Schlekeway
Last Year: 24-3
After another state tournament trip last year and resulting graduation losses of the top six players, the Lady Indians enter the 2025-26 campaign with a new look as Bryan Schlekeway takes the whistle as head coach.
“There’s a definite “game experience” shortage on our roster as we start the season, but there’s also a skill set and never give up will to win approach from the players that will make us solid by the time we get around to the playoffs,” said Schlekeway, a 41-year veteran of coaching basketball.
Only three players return from a year ago including veteran Kyleigh Combs (5-6, Sr.) along with Maleah Hardwick (5-6, Jr.) and Mahiya Masterson (5-7, So.). Adding to the competitive nature of this year’s roster will be a trio of seniors including Kaydence Batt (5-6, Sr.), Dauslyn Brown (5-6, Sr.) and Landie Riggs (5-6, Sr.) along with Ashlyn Barnes (5-4, So.) and a quintet of freshmen led by Jurnee Smith (5-4, Fr.) as well as Lilia Dunnigan (5-3, Fr.), Abby Cox (5-6, Fr.), Sage Slavens (5-6, Fr.) and Jaclynn Robinson (5-8, Fr.).
“We will make up for our lack of height by playing at an uptempo pace to get the quick shot and then employ an aggressive defensive presence to force turnovers,” said Schlekeway. We have an everyday approach to get better day by day.”
