Record: 25-5
OUTLOOK
The Roland Lady Rangers enter the new season with confidence, experience, and a proven formula for winning under head coach Scott Nelke. After two straight runs to the Big House, the Lady Rangers return a core group that knows how to compete at the highest level. “The last two seasons we have made a run that ended in the Big House at the State Tournament,” said Nelke. “Have four returning starters that have a record of 51-10 the last two years. We have a good core of young kids to be able to bring along with the upperclassmen to give us some depth. I am excited about what we have coming back.”
Leading the charge is junior guard Ryanne Nelke (6-0, Jr.), who averaged 18.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. Her scoring ability, efficiency, and impact on both ends make her the centerpiece of Roland’s attack. “She had led us in scoring the last two years as a Freshmen and Sophomore,” Nelke said. “Last year averaged 18.2 PPG and shot 48% from the 3pt line. Second on the team last year in steals and assist and I think both of those numbers will be better this year.”
Junior forward Halle Freeman (6-0, Jr.) adds strength inside, coming off an impressive season with 11.2 points and 7 rebounds per game. Her presence gives Roland a dependable interior scorer and rebounder. “Leading scorer Ryanne Nelke at 18.2 points per game… and Halle Freeman at 11.2 points per game and 8.3 rebounds,” Nelke noted.
Senior guard Molly Carver (5-10, Sr.) provides leadership as the team’s lone senior, contributing 6.6 PPG and bringing the intangibles every coach values. “She is a well-rounded young lady that performs in the classroom also,” Nelke said. “She does everything that the coaching staff asks her to do and goes above and beyond.”
Rounding out the experienced returning group is Lilly Cole (5-6, Jr.), who averaged 5.6 PPG and is expected to take another step forward. “Lilly will be more experienced and add some help with scoring and rebounding,” said Nelke.
With elite scoring, size, and tested experience, the Lady Rangers have every reason to believe they are primed for another postseason run.
