Muskogee’s Jack Green – Football Spotlight – Presented by Nissan of Muskogee

The 2025 football season has brought a lot of changes for Muskogee senior Jack Green and the Rougher football team. First of all, there’s a new sheriff in town with coach Dale Condict now in charge. Secondly, the easy winning ways of the last two years with a group of extraordinarily talented seniors is over, replaced by the more realistic challenges of a team in a re-loading mode. But Green has taken this year’s 1-3 start all in stride as a leader. “As a senior leader on the team, my main goal for the year is to embrace the change. I’m a pretty quiet leader but if I see a problem, I’m going to point it out because I know I’m setting an example for my younger brother, Ryan, who is on the team. “It was actually Ryan who first got started playing football in the Green household. “I went to some of Ryan’s games and thought it looked like fun, so I started playing in the sixth grade at Hilldale before moving to Muskogee my freshman year,” said the older brother.  “Until I got to Muskogee, I had always been an offensive lineman but when I came here, I got switched to defense.” And Condict is glad he did. “Jack is a guy that works extremely hard in the offseason in the weight room and plays with great leverage and is good with his hands. He’s always consistent and dependable and a pretty darn good player.”  Although the Roughers won the state Class 6A-2 state championship in 2023, it was a game from last year’s run to the title game that Green fondly remembers. “We played Stillwater in the semifinals last year and they basically ran the ball up the middle most of the game and that’s where I play and so I had nine or 10 tackles in that game, “said the well-spoken lineman. Now that district play is underway, Green knows the Roughers can’t dwell in the past. “We can’t dwell on the past, but maybe if we remember how we felt after those first three weeks, it will help us keep our focus on the job at hand the rest of the season.”
