At just five years old, Kaylynn Hamilton stepped into the world of competitive cheerleading—and she hasn’t looked back since. “I have been in cheer since I was five and loved it for as long as I can remember,” she said. “When I am not at school, I am at home getting my two horses ready for the rodeo season. We went to many competitions.”
Growing up, Kaylynn found her inspiration close to home. “When I was little and I would watch the high school cheerleaders on the sideline, I always wanted to be just like them,” she said. “My mom is my biggest influence.”
Kaylynn took on a leadership role this past season, serving as captain for the Beggs High School cheer squad. “I was a captain for the 24-25 season,” she said. “The way that I prepared myself for it was to make sure that I had everything I needed as a captain.”
Her dedication extended far beyond the sidelines. “My week would start off with a two-hour practice, and then I would have an hour practice the rest of the week to get us prepared for the games and competition that we had,” Kaylynn shared.
That consistent effort paid off in many ways, but the most valuable experiences were the ones that came through growth and teamwork. “When I think about a memory, I would say camp, because when we first got there, we struggled a lot but overcame that as a team,” she recalled.
Confidence didn’t always come easy, but Kaylynn has learned to trust herself. “I would say my most challenging thing would be having confidence in myself,” she said. “The way that I overcame it was to just trust my ability and know that I was doing the right thing.”
Looking ahead, Kaylynn has big plans beyond the cheer mat. “I see myself working as an RN and rodeoing full time,” she said. “After high school, I plan to go to nursing school.”
Still, she’ll never forget the impact cheer had on her life—or those who helped her along the way. “I would like to thank my parents, friends, family, and my cheer coaches.”
