Eufaula’s Leah Green – Track Spotlight – Presented by Sam Wampler’s Freedom Ford of Eufaula

LEAH GREEN-EUFAULA

If one word could describe Eufaula freshman Leah Green, it might be competitive. You hear it from her coaches and from herself.

“She’s just so very competitive for a freshman,” said her basketball and track coach Jason Radomski. “She’s very coachable and if you tell her to do something, she’s going to do it without hesitation.”

Leah plays basketball, runs the 4X100 and 4X400 relays, as well as the 100 and 200 meter opens for the Lady Ironheads. Her dad, Ryan, is the softball coach and as you might expect that’s where Leah’s athletic heart is.

“I’ve played softball since I was very young, and my family is very baseball and softball oriented plus I also play a lot of travel ball. My parents have coached me in it, and I’ve worked so hard at it and I love the game so much. I’ve always liked to run so I started track in the seventh grade, and I won my first 100-meter dash in middle school I decided I liked it. I began playing basketball in pre-kindergarten. I’m not as good at it and probably don’t work as hard at it as the other sports but I enjoy it because it keeps me in shape and because I like competing and it’s a fun environment to be around and it’s really fun. My parents are really my role models, especially my dad who has coached me since I was in little league and even some basketball and I just love my parents. Dad expects more of me and pushes me a lot but to me pressure is a privilege, and I appreciate it and do my best to thrive on it. My main goal this year in track is just to improve with every meet and get good in the 4X400 relay because it’s the first time I’ve run this event and go to state with a relay team,” said Leah who pitches in fast pitch softball and plays shortstop in slow pitch. Green is also starting to be more involved in school activities as a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Honor Society. In her spare time Leah enjoys playing on her phone, hanging with her sister and reading.
