AUSTIN ALBRIGHT
When Austin Albright takes his position behind home plate for the Northeastern State University baseball team, the 2025 senior feels right at home.
“In my baseball career, I’ve played a variety of positions but I thrive when I’m in the lineup at catcher because of the every pitch involvement,” explained the Chickasha native who joined coach Sunny Golloway’s roster last season. “Some may not know but the philosophy and techniques are ever changing that demand my full attention to detail. That’s the way I like to do things.”
Whether he’s in the RiverHawks lineup or managing his classroom assignments, Albright’s approach is one of honest, integrity and hard work.
“it’s a part of my DNA. My coaches and teammates and hopefully my instructors know what they’ll get out of me and can see by my everyday efforts, my commitment to do things right the first time.”
The requirement of flexibility to each game’s situation and opportunities is something that Albright makes the most of in order to complete his HPER degree at NSU.
“I try to take care of the details by paying attention to the little things that make a difference in the outcome,” said Albright. “The opportunities including my Zoom as well as in-person classes and taking tests before we go on the road is a real plus. It’s another part of the team chemistry at NSU that extends beyond the playing field to the classroom and strengthens the relationship with my professors.”
After graduation this spring, Albright plans to give back to those who’ve helped him find a pathway to success turning to the baseball coaching ranks before eventually a return to the family farm environment, the solid rock foundation for his everyday actions.
“I want to make a positive impact with my players to empower them to become productive young people prepared for all the challenges of everyday life,” Albright said with emphasis. “Just like those who helped me, I’ want to instill the fact and know all the hard work that’s required, that the job is never done but the finished product is a special reward.”
