HAYDEN ROBINSON

EUFAULA HIGH SCHOOL

Eufaula High senior Hayden Robinson and baseball coach Josh Luna have worked together since Hayden was just starting his baseball career.

“I grew up watching my sister play softball and then coach Luna formed a travel team when I was about seven and I just fell in love with the game. I played on coach Luna’s team all thorough middle school and then got on another team and played until a couple of years ago,” said Hayden. “I like the grind of baseball and the work you have to put into it to be good at it. I’ve played several different positions over the years, but I like pitching the best because I feel I have more control of the game there.”

“Hayden is a quiet leader for us,” said Luna. “He shows up early and has a great work ethic and sets a good example for our young kids.”

Hayden also played football growing up until a knee injury ended that venture his freshman year. Growing up he watched a lot of Texas Rangers baseball and liked watching Ian Kinsler.

“I liked the way he always hustled and played defense.”

Though he can play a number of positions, Robinson will primarily be a pitcher and shortstop for the Ironheads this year.

“My best pitch is probably my curve ball because I’m pretty good with location and have confidence in it on any pitch count. I’m working on getting my change up to be more consistent this year,” said Hayden.

Both coach and player are cautiously optimistic about the upcoming season for the Ironheads.

“We’ve got six pretty experienced players back this year which is great,” said Luna. “But we’ve been bumped up to Class 4A this year so we’ve got to develop more arms to compete at that level against folks like Verdigris and Fort Gibson and Berryhill.”
Other teams Eufaula will have to face in their new district will be Catoosa, Checotah, Stilwell and Victory Christian.
