Ethan Thompson’s baseball journey started with family inspiration. “I started playing baseball by watching my sister and dad practice and just being around it, then I started playing when I was nine in kid pitch,” he explained. That early exposure to the game fueled a passion that has only grown over the years.
Ethan’s father has been a constant source of motivation and guidance throughout his career. “My dad inspired me to play baseball, and he is my biggest influence,” Ethan said. His dad’s support has played a pivotal role in shaping him into the player and leader he is today.
Team chemistry is a priority for Ethan, and he recognizes its importance. “The team’s chemistry right now is great, but we still have some differences that can improve. That will come with time,” he said. As a senior leader, Ethan takes an active role in fostering unity among his teammates.
“My role on the team is being the leader and getting everyone around and making sure they do the things that need to be done,” Ethan explained. His preparation extends beyond the field. “I prepare for it by working hard on and off the field, mentally and physically.”
Ethan’s goals for his senior season are ambitious yet achievable. “My goals and hopes for this season are to have over 100 strikeouts pitching and help the team go play in May,” he said. His training reflects his commitment. “Right now, in athletics, I’m working out with wrestling. I just finished up a long toss program and weighted ball program and am transitioning into bullpens and T-work to kick off my senior year of baseball.”
Looking back, Ethan is proud of his accomplishments, especially ending last season with 102 strikeouts. “That’s my most proud moment,” he said. As he looks to the future, Ethan plans to continue his baseball journey. “I plan on going to college after high school, getting a degree, and playing baseball in college.”
Ethan also expressed gratitude for those who have supported him. “I’d like to thank my dad for all the long nights throwing soft toss or catching me, my mom for putting up with everything, and Coach Jeans for helping me through my last year of high school.”
