POCOLA LADY INDIANS

Coach: Mark McKenzie

23-24 Record: 21-7

The Lady Indians are poised for a promising 2024 season, bringing back all five starters from a state-qualifying team and adding a three-year starter from Warner to bolster their already talented roster. Head coach Mark McKenzie is excited about his team’s potential, emphasizing the importance of maintaining good health throughout the season to achieve their goals. “We are hopeful for a great season with all five starters back from a state qualifier team, and adding a three-yearstarter from Warner,” said McKenzie. “Hopefully, we stay healthy for the entire year.”

Leading the way for the “P-Town” Lady Indians  is standout forward Allyssa Parker (6-0, Sr.), who has been Pocola’s top scorer throughout her high school career. Last season, Parker averaged an impressive 29.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 3.6 steals per game, making her a versatile and dominant presence on the court. Also returning is Jordan Jackson (5-6, Sr.), a dynamic guard who averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game. Jackson is a key playmaker and defender for the Lady Indians. Forward Piper Warren (5-8, Sr.) contributed significantly last season with 10.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. Guard Lety Parga (5-6, Sr.) also brings valuable experience, averaging 6.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. The depth of the roster includes returning players such as Riley Jerrell (5-6, Sr.), who added 4.1 points per game, and Kylee Merritt (5-6, Sr.), who averaged 2.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Sophomore forward Maleah Hardwick (5-6, So.) and junior guard Kyleigh Combs (5-6, Jr.) will look to build on their contributions, while talented freshmen Brynleigh Taylor (5-8, Fr.), Bayleigh Davis (5-1, Fr.), Mahiya Masterson (5-7, Fr.) and Bethany Richison (5-7, Fr.) add promising depth to the team.

With a mix of experienced seniors and emerging underclassmen, the Lady Indians are set to compete at a high level this season, with aspirations of returning to the state tournament and making a deeper run.
