Spiro Lady Bulldogs
Coach: Dennis Wright
23-24 Record: 21-7
The Spiro Lady Bulldogs enter the 2024-2025 season looking to build on their strong 21-7 finish from last year. With a roster featuring 70% of last season’s production and a junior and sophomore-heavy lineup, head coach Dennis Wright anticipates continued growth and success. While the team must replace two experienced guards, several returning players are poised to step into larger roles.
“We do expect some growing pains early as players adjust to their new roles as primary ballhandlers,” Wright explained. “However, the coaching staff is confident they’ll be ready by playoff time. We have good size and overall length, which should benefit us defensively. Offensively, we aim for a balanced inside and outside attack.” Key returning players include junior forward Brynleigh Graham (6-2, Jr.), who averaged a double-double last season with 10.4 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Graham’s size and skill make her a presence on both ends of the floor, and she is expected to lead the team again this year. Senior guard/forward Kaylee Martin (5-10, Sr.) brings versatility and production, contributing 9.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.9 steals per game last season. Junior guard Kiana Craig (5-6, Jr.) adds consistency in the backcourt, averaging 5.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
Sophomore guard Jaiklyn Rogers (5-6, So.) is a rising star for Spiro, known for her sharpshooting from beyond the arc. Rogers shot 41% from three-point range last season and is expected to expand her role significantly this year. Another player to watch is sophomore guard/forward Kamdyn McClure (5-10, So.), a versatile athlete who can contribute both inside and on the perimeter.
The Lady Bulldogs’ size and depth extend beyond their stars. Junior forward Laylah Steele (5-9, Jr.) and sophomore guard Rylee Darneal (5-7, So.) are key contributors, while senior guard Brooklyn Adams (5-5, Sr.) provides leadership and intangibles that elevate the team’s chemistry. Coach Wright praised Adams as “the ultimate teammate” who works tirelessly to support her peers on and off the court.
The team’s schedule features a mix of tough competition and opportunities for growth, including games against conference rivals and participation in multiple tournaments. Coach Wright is optimistic about his team’s potential to compete at a high level as the season progresses.
“We should be competitive again this year if we stay healthy,” Wright added.
