SALLISAW LADY BLACK DIAMONDS
GIRLS
COACH: Eric Carr
23-24 Record: 8-16
The Sallisaw Lady Black Diamonds are gearing up for the 2024 season with a mix of returning players and fresh faces. Head coach Eric Carr is optimistic about the team’s chances this year, especially with the majority of the squad returning from last season. “We feel like our experience and toughness will lead us to more wins this season,” Carr said. “We look to play an up-tempo style and use our defense to create more offensive opportunities through turnovers.” The team will rely on its experienced upperclassmen to lead the way, but coach Carr is also excited about the contributions expected from underclassmen. The Lady Black Diamonds aim to increase their offensive production by forcing turnovers and converting them into points.
Hannah Palmer (5-4, Jr., PG/SG) is a standout player for Sallisaw. Known for her defensive skills and ability to score from beyond the arc, Palmer is expected to have a breakout junior season. “Hannah is very skilled with quick feet and hands defensively, and she’s becoming a highly effective 3-point shooter,” said Carr. Kayli Macon (5-7, Sr., G/F) returns as a versatile player who can contribute in multiple areas. She is an important piece of the offense and defense and will be relied upon to provide leadership this season. Emma Martin (5-3, Jr., G) is another player to watch, known for her high motor and toughness. “Emma is a spark plug on the court,” Carr mentioned. “She brings a level of toughness to the court which leads other to follow.”
Alayna Locust-Trammell (5-7, Jr., SG) has proven to be a great teammate with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. She is extremely coachable and provides a steady presence on and off the court. Other key players for the Lady Black Diamonds include Channing Wilson (5-10, So., F), who brings physicality and a solid mid-range game, and Katelyn Carlton (5-4, Fr., PG), a talented freshman who could make an immediate impact with her ball-handling skills and vision. The team has a full roster, and Coach Carr is confident that their defensive intensity and fast-paced play will translate into success this season.
