HULBERT RIDERS

GIRLS

Coach: Joseph McClure

23-24 Record: 13-12

After posting a winning season last year, the Hulbert Lady Riders will be riding high on optimism this year as they return a lot of young but experienced players as well as some talented newcomers.

“We will be able to play fast and pressure the ball or we can slow the game down and work the ball inside if need to” said coach Joseph McClure.

The Riders are paced by VYPE TOP 100 nominee Sadie Chambers (5-6, Jr.) who averaged 16 points a game last year with several 30+ point games and is on pace to pass the 1000-point career mark this year.

“Sadie is a natural scorer with a game that is expanding following a great summer,” said McClure. “She will have another great season for us and should be one of the top players in the area.”

Another of the key contributors for the Riders will be Brooke-Lynne Norton (5-6, So.) who is another VYPE TOP 100 nominee who averaged six points and two rebounds a game in 2023.

“Brooke-Lynne had a great summer and has improved all around. She has always been a shooter but now can score at all three levels.” said McClure.

The Riders have just two seniors on the squad this year in center Calan Teague (5-11) and forward Maddy Potts (5-6) who will bring some leadership to this otherwise young squad. Another of those youngsters that established herself last year is Mya Soap-Henson (5-6, So.) who is projected to move into the starting lineup this year.

“Mya is our best on-ball defender,” said McClure. “Her ability to pressure the ball full court will be perfect for how we want to play defense.”

The Riders will welcome back Makenna Masters (6-0, So.) and Aveah Gifford (5-11, So.) who were both injured last year. Other players that will look for playing time include juniors Kenleigh Farmer (5-6) and Taylor Forrest (5-5), sophomore Kambr Young (5-2) and a group of talented freshmen that includes Emma Bowlin, Khloe Lamons, and a pair that McClure is really high on in Brandy Parker and Lily Potts.
