GIRLS

Coach: Justin Brown

23-24 Record: 12-15

With a combination of experienced playmakers and young talented players, the Lady Indians are more than just optimistic the 2024-25 season will bring a traditional winning season. Last year’s newcomers are now seasoned veterans anchored by the skills of VYPE Top 100 pick Prairie Holmes (5-10, Jr.) who has the ability to get to the basket and score off the dribble as well as deliver a high percentage 3-point average. “Because of her athleticism, she’s proved she can create scoring opportunities,” said head coach Justin Brown. “Prairie is tough to defend.”

The Lady Indians coach also admires the everyday efforts of Tyla Ford (5-10, Jr.) and the leadership of the squad’s only two seniors in guards Rylie Bush (5-1, Sr.) who Brown calls “a high energy player and good communicator” and Rayna Falcon (5-6, Sr.). The non-stop style of Sequoyah basketball will be bolstered by the energetic contributions of Brenly Lamb (5-5, Fr.), a 3-point threat who can also score in the paint and Juliana Davenport (5-7,Fr.) a small forward who wins the 50-50 ball battles as well as being a force on the boards. Brown can only smile while looking at the remainder of the roster where depth is a definite advantage resulting from the athletic skills of Emma Cullie (5-11, Jr.) a hard worker who is always around the ball along with Macy Brown (5-4, So.),Tessa Trammel (5-4, So.), Layney Smith (5-0, Jr.) and Kya Poafpybitty (5-8, So) while Abby Wyatt (5-10, So.), Dayci Starr (6-0, So) and Jayden Travis (6-0, Fr.) add size to the five players on the court.

The Indians will also gain from the non-stop preparations of Aliya Freeman (5-4, Jr.), Kyree Alexander (5-4, So.) and incoming freshmen Jacey McGee (5-4, Fr.) and Kashyah Teehee (5-3, Fr.).

“We have a very deep bench and these kids know they must earn their game time minutes through hard work,” said Brown. “The balance of the upperclassmen and young talented player has me excited to see it all come together successfully in time for a deep playoff run.”
