SEQUOYAH TAHLEQUAH INDIANS

BOYS

Coach: Zac Briscoe

23-24 Record: 10-15

With one of the top offensive threats in Class 3A boys basketball leading the attack, the Indians expect to light up the scoreboard this season. Point guard Aiden Hooper (5-10, So.), a VYPE Top 100 selection, caught the attention of every opponent during his freshman season averaging 21 points per game. “Aiden can score from all three levels,” said head coach Zac Briscoe who begins his second season. “Through his court vision, he’s equally as gifted with his ability to create quality passes to set up teammates chances to score.”

Despite the youth of this year’s roster, the Indians have the athleticism to play fast and aggressive on both ends of the floor. Talon Vaughn (6-1, Jr.) who just missed double-digits point totals averaging 9.6 per game will join Jalen Handle (5-10, Sr.) as shooting guards while Jordan Armontrout (6-1, Jr.) returns to the front line where he snatched four rebounds in addition to scoring 6-plus points per game joining forces with forward Malakhi Baccus (6-1, Jr.) who also grabbed 4-plus boards and scoring 6.0 per contest.

“Talen is a sharp shoot and as a rangy athlete can come up with steals and force opponents into making bad passes,” said the Indians mentor. “Malakhi has a tremendous motor that allows him to come up with every loose ball as well as rebound and run the floor in transition.” Briscoe likes the depth of this year’s lineup where the rotation of minutes will be shared by Josiah Robbins (5-7, Sr.), Kylar RattlingGourd (5-10, Sr.), Hanley Eusebio (5-9, So.), Payton Sapp (6-2, So.), Logan Taulbee (6-1, Jr.), Nelson Leach (5-9, So.) and Jakob Ryder (5-11, So.)at guard while Kaiden Cochran (6-2, Jr.), Christian Noahubi (6-1, Sr.) compete for game time minutes at forward.

“Because we have several players with on-court experience, we want to make the most of the energy and athletic skills to push the pace of play and pressure our opponents from baseline to baseline,” said Briscoe.
