TAHLEQUAH TIGERS
BOYS
Coach: DUANE JONES
23-24 Record: 13-13
After a competitive 2023 season, the Tahlequah Tigers are looking to build on their experience and improve as they head into the 2024 season. With a returning core of senior leaders and some key underclassmen ready to step up, the Tigers are aiming for a strong season and the opportunity to make noise in the postseason. Head coach Duane Jones is optimistic about his team’s depth and the leadership of his seniors. With a lot of experience coming back this year, the senior leadership will be important. However, the underclassmen are hungry and ready to step up.
Leading the way will be senior guard Cash McAlvain (6-1, Sr.), who averaged 15 points per game last season and is poised for another big year. McAlvain is known for his scoring ability and his excellent court vision. Joining him in the backcourt will be Jordan Daughtery (6-2, Sr.), a steady presence who averaged 7 points and 3.5 assists per game in 2023. Daughtery’s commitment and leadership on both ends of the floor will be a key part of the Tigers’ success.
The frontcourt will feature Miguel Rodriguez (6-3, Sr.), a versatile forward who contributed 6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game last season. Rodriguez’s physicality and ability to stretch the floor will be crucial for the Tigers as they look to get key contributions from their big men. JJ Antwine (6-3, Sr.) will also be in the mix, bringing his toughness and rebounding presence to the team. Underclassmen like Caston Wilson (So.) and Jett Morrison (Fr.) will also have significant roles to play this season. Wilson is a quick shooting guard who plays with confidence and intensity, while Morrison has already shown he can compete with older players due to his athleticism and grit. The Tigers have the potential to be a strong team in 2024, and their success will depend on the continued development of their younger players and the leadership of their veterans.
