OKTAHA TIGERS
BOYS
Coach: Dirk Walden
23-24 Record: 19-10
The Tigers roar into the 2024-25 campaign ready to prove their skills evolving around the experience of three returning starters at the guard position and the bonus of transfers to add size and strength to their front line prowess. Dylan Walden (6-0, Sr.), whose sharpshooting talents produced impressive numbers including connecting on 42-percent of his 3-point attempts to produce 10.6 points per game will reunite with Tyler Roby (5-10, Sr.) who averaged 10.2 points to anchor perimeter scoring. Head coach Dirk Walden welcomes the ability to score and win the battles on the boards centered around the play of Kayden Harris (6-7, Jr.) a McAlester transfer. “Kayden gives us more than just size. He’s a super athletic left handed player that can face up and take you off the dribble,” said the Oktaha coach with a smile. Nic Tolbert (6-7, Jr.) who moved to Oktaha from Fort Gibson gives the veteran coach another bonus to the Tigers style of play. The on-court experience of Braxton Casey (5-8, Sr.) who averaged 6.7 points and Koyah Letterman (6-0, Jr.) who chipped in 5.4 points solidifies the lineup along with strong and athletics efforts of Mason Pickering (6-2, Sr.) and Joe Bunch (6-4, Jr.) while the Tigers add playmaking skills from a trio of promising freshmen including Raif Bacon (6-2, Fr.), Lukas Walden (6-0, Fr.) and Luke Edwards (5-7, Fr.). “I really like our team,” said Walden. “I believe that with hard work and continued improvement, we have a shot to be really good by the end of the season and have a chance to get to the state tournament.”
