MUSKOGEE ROUGHERS

BOYS

Coach: Lou Dawkins

23-24 Record: 8-16

Athleticism, quickness along with improved shooting will give the Muskogee Roughers opportunities for success in 2024-25 and give head coach Lou Dawkins an optimistic outlook for the 2024-25 campaign.

“I’m excited about our opportunities,” said the Roughers coach now in his third season at the helm. “Our guard strength with their shooting abilities and quickness provide us multiple variables to score. Combined with our up and coming talent, I’m confident we’re going to surprise some people this year.”

Leading the charge for the Roughers is a repeat VYPE Top 100 selection Javian Webber (6-2, Sr.) who provides more than just a double-digit scoring threat. “He has the ability to post up, slash and score off the dribble in addition to being one of the best shooters in Oklahoma from the 3-point line,” said Dawkins. Adding perimeter firepower to the Roughers guard play is EJ James (6-2, Sr.) whose proven defensive skills lead to scoring easy buckets through his ability to slash, drive and finish at the rim as well as consistently collect rebounds.  Kelan Payne (6-0, Jr.) will be the floor general at point guard while Traylin Reed (6-2, So.) is a small hybrid forward that has the ability to defend all three guard positions in addition to being an offensive asset when on the floor. The athleticism of Jamie Beasley (6-2, Jr.) is a plus on either end of the court while the physical presence of forward Zion Dedmon (6-2, Sr.) on either end of the court along with newcomer Pharoah Grant (6-7, Jr.) in the post gives the Roughers muscle on the front lines. Adding depth to the Roughers roster will be Alfred Logan Jr (6-0, Jr.), Ondraye Beasley (6-0, Sr.), Gervon Washington (6-2, Sr.), Preston Wallace (6-2, Sr.) and John Michael Webber (6-3, So.).
