Muldrow’s Danica Tune – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Midland Motors

Danica Tune’s career in softball has been defined by her leadership and dedication to her teammates. “My specific role on the team is to serve as a leader and be the go-to person for any of the girls when they need support.” As a junior at Muldrow High School, Danica’s leadership has not only shaped her own success but also the strong bond within the team.

Softball has been part of Danica’s life since the age of three when she joined a t-ball team called ‘Little Attitudes.’ It was her older sister who encouraged her to play, sparking what would become a lifelong passion. “My dad and mom, along with her, have been my biggest influence,” Danica said, highlighting the strong support system that has always surrounded her.

Team chemistry is something Danica believes was vital to her team’s success this season, even with a young roster. “We bonded quickly and got along really well, creating a supportive and fun environment on and off the field,” she shared. The camaraderie and teamwork helped them overcome challenges and continue pushing forward.

One of the standout moments of her season was when Muldrow defeated Checotah, a game where Danica’s skills made a difference. “Beating Checotah and I hit a double to get us ahead,” she recalled. It’s these moments of high-pressure performance that highlight her commitment and ability to step up when the team needs her.

Danica’s preparation is intense, as she balances both her school and travel teams. “We usually practice every day a week with school. I also play on a travel team and our coaches have us do workouts.” This level of commitment not only develops her skills but prepares her for her future.

In five years, Danica sees herself progressing in softball and pursuing her career goals. “I see myself advancing in softball and competing at a higher level while also pursuing my goal of becoming an occupational therapy assistant (OTA),” she said, balancing her love for the game with a career in healthcare.

After graduation, Danica plans to play college softball at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Oklahoma. As she reflects on her journey, she’s most proud of the personal growth she’s experienced during her time at Muldrow. “I’m most proud of the growth I experienced during my time at Muldrow High School,” knowing that the lessons she’s learned will carry her forward both on and off the field.
