JAIDEN OSBORN
WARNER HIGH SCHOOL
When a new coach comes into a program one of the first things he (or she) looks to find are the players that are dependable veterans to help with the transition. And at Warner High School one of those guys has been senior Jaiden Osborn for new coach Cade Shearwood.
“We’ve had like five different coaches since I’ve been here and coach Shearwood has come in and treated us like family and he gets us right before practices and games and he’s one of the better coaches we’ve had in the past four years,” said Osborn who plays tight end and outside linebacker for the Eagles.
And for Shearwood, who came to Warner this year after a successful three-year gig at Stigler, he’s appreciative of what Jaiden has contributed.
“Jaiden is a four-year letterman, and a hard-nosed physical player who is selfless and always making sure he’s getting his job done. He’s got a positive attitude which he brings to the team’s chemistry.”
Even though a new coach means new plays to learn, it’s the nitty-gritty of playing tight end that excites Osborn.
“While I’ve been here, we’ve always had pretty good running backs, so we’d just pound the ball. But now with coach Shearwood, we’re passing the ball more and, while it’s nice to get a chance to catch a pass now and then, I really just enjoy blocking more. But I really enjoy playing defense even more because of the physicality and you can hit someone as hard you can and don’t get in trouble for it,” said Osborn.
Jaiden has a couple of people that are role models in his life. One is his older brother Jason who was an all-around athlete in high school and still pushes him to be a better player. The other is a guy that has been with him these years at Warner- Lubbock Drake.
“Some days we just go out and have a brother talk about all kinds of things and he helps me out with family matters and on the field if I mess up, Lubbock coaches me up on it and he’s always been there for me.”
