HILLDALE SENIOR CHEERLEADERS
The Hilldale High cheer squad this year is led by four seniors who have helped first year coach Emily Danks lead a spirited crew. VYPE talked to the four-Addison Whitford, Emilie Hayes, Brenna Cooper and Addison Williams- about their cheer careers and their future plans.
VYPE: Tell me how you got started in cheer
Addison Whitford: “I started cheering in first grade and have been doing it ever since.”
Brenna: “That’s pretty much the same for me.”
Addison Willams:” I started in first grade, took a break to play softball in seventh grade and then came back to cheer.”
Emilie: “I started cheer when I was young, then went into dance and came back to cheer last year.”
VYPE: What other clubs and activities are you in at Hilldale?
Emilie: “I’m also in choir.”
Addison Williams: “I’m in Nike Club, FCCLA, Teens for Christ and National Honor Society.”
Brenna: “I mainly just concentrate on cheer.”
Addison Whitford: “I’m in National Honor Society and run track where I do the sprints and high jump.”
VYPE: What’s been the highlight of your cheer career at Hilldale?
Emilie: “Beating Fort Gibson in football last year.”
Addison Williams: “Making All American my sophomore year and going the farthest we ever have in competition.”
Addison Whitford: “I liked going to camp every summer and making All American twice.”
Brenna: “I like Senior Nights every year because I like seeing what all our seniors have accomplished and what they’ll be doing next. Also making All American.”
VYPE: Speaking of which, what are your post-high school plans?
Addison Whitford: “I plan on going to OU and get my ultrasound tech degree.”
Brenna: “I’m going to college to study graphic design or marketing and hopefully cheer.”
Addison Williams: “I’m going to OSU and major in biology pre-med and become a pediatrician and join a sorority.
Emilie: “I’m going to NSU and get my nursing degree and maybe cheer there.”
