SPIRO BULLDDOGS

DAVID HOGAN

6-5

OFFENSE

David Hogan steps into the head coaching position this year at Spiro and he’ll have a solid group of returning experience to work with running the spread offense led by third-year quarterback Brycen Graham (6-6, 210, Sr.). “Brycen is a key player for us on both sides of the ball,” said Hogan. “He understands what we’re trying to do on offense and after a good season last year we expect even bigger and better this year.” Graham passed for nearly 1,300 yards and ran for another 321 with a total of 19 touchdowns in 2023 as well as being the deep snapper for the kicking game. Hayden Reed (5-10, 175, Jr.) saw a lot of playing time at running back last year rushing for 1,226 yards and 11 touchdowns. “Hayden is a shifty back with good speed and great field vision,” said Hogan. Look for Colton Hogan (6-2, 240, Jr.) to be the main man on the line and sophomore Daniel Shepard who has lived in the weight room during the off season according to Hogan. Heading up the receiving corps will be tight end Davis Carter (6-0, 185, Sr.). “Davis is a four-year starter for us that always puts the team first. He also coaches flag football and umpires little league baseball as well as having his own lawn service.” said Hogan.

DEFENSE

Spiro’s 4-2-5 defense will have a solid front line led by Shepard, Wyatt Carter (6-2, 220, Sr.) and Tyson Covey (5-10, 220, Sr.), the latter two teaming up for 65 tackles and 20 tackles for loss last year. Jayden Berry (5-10, 175, Jr.) will head up the linebacking group while Graham will be the stopper in the secondary where he broke up 12 passes last season. “Our defense is a bend-don’t-break defense. We tell our kids to be where you’re supposed to be and do what you’re supposed to do, and we hope that message gets through to our younger players who will need to step up this year.” One interesting footnote for the Bulldogs this year is that the entire coaching staff is made up of Spiro alums. A few new teams will be district opponents and the Bulldogs will enjoy having three of the first four games at home.
