WEBBERS FALL WARRIORS

Coach: TRENT HOLT

9-3

OFFENSE

For four years the Webbers Falls Warriors rode the talent of Maddux Shelby to the playoffs in three of the last four years including the second-round last season. With over 900 yards rushing each of the last two years, Shelby was the workhorse for the Warriors. But he is one of those graduating seniors that coach Trent Holt will look to replace this year as Webbers Falls looks to regroup in 2024. The Warriors return four starters on offense this season led by running back Aiden Turley (6-1, 210, Sr.). “Aiden is a big, strong framed kid who looks the part and plays it well,” said Holt. “He was a punishing blocker for us last year and this year will be called upon to carry the ball more often. He’ll also anchor the defense at strong side linebacker.” The Warriors also return a solid lineman in Ryan Cowan (6-0, 215, Sr.) as they run out of the pro set with a run-first philosophy. As part of the new Class B-II this year, the Warriors will face some new district opponents that will include Wilson-Henryetta, Copan, and Gans while Arkoma and Wesleyan Christian that were non-district foes become part of the district this season.

DEFENSE

While Turley and Cowan will also play on the defense, they will be joined by Zane Nolan (5-9, 170, Sr.) at linebacker and another Shelby, Gunner, (5-7, 130, So.) at cornerback as they execute the 3-2 defense designed to stop the run first. “We’re excited for the upcoming season,” said Holt. “We have to replace some key pieces from last year’s team, but we have the kids ready to step up and we expect to compete for a district title.”
