On the baseball field, Cole Hamlin, a senior standout at Stigler High School, is one to watch this spring. Cole, who is 6’1, is a talented athlete whose athletic journey is defined by a combination of hard effort, dedication and talent that goes beyond his physical abilities.
Cole is a versatile athlete, excelling in both football and baseball. On the gridiron, he commands the field as a right tackle and defensive end. However, it’s on the baseball diamond where Cole truly shines, showcasing his abilities as an outfielder and a formidable pitcher.
When asked about his motivation, Cole’s response is straightforward: “Winning motivates me.” This drive for success is not just a personal pursuit but a reflection of his commitment to his team and his school.
One of Cole’s biggest influences is coach Cade Shearwood, who has played a pivotal role in shaping Cole’s athletic journey. “Coach Shearwood is one of my biggest influencers because he pushes me to be my best every day.”
Success in sports, according to Cole, requires “lots of hard work and dedication.” His stats speak volumes about this dedication, showcasing impressive performances both at bat and on the mound. With a batting average of .276 and an on-base percentage of .421, coupled with his pitching ability reflected in a remarkable 0.42 ERA and 20 strikeouts, Cole’s numbers underscore his commitment to success.
Reflecting on his career’s highlight moment, Cole recalls hitting a home run on Connors State College’s baseball field.
Rivalries add another layer of intensity to sports, and for Cole, beating Sallisaw holds special significance. “Sallisaw, because it is a rivalry.”
In practice, Hamlin enjoys working with teammate Mojo Bush, noting their mutual drive. Beyond sports, Cole is actively involved in FFA, skeet shooting and livestock showing.
Looking ahead, Cole Hamlin plans to attend Connors State College on a skeet shooting scholarship while pursuing a degree in agribusiness. His commitment to his goals, both on and off the field, reflects his understanding of what it means to represent his school and community of Stigler with pride.
