Miss NSU Addison Rouse – Presented by Northeastern State University

Addison Rouse – Miss NSU

What is a RiverHawk…it’s much more than a symbol or mascot.

The answer is best defined through the eyes and heartbeat of Addison Rouse, a freshman at Northeastern State University who proudly wears the crown as Miss NSU.

“A RiverHawk bleeds green!  It’s someone who is not afraid to take their seat at the table willing to put in the work to bring fresh ideas and opportunities. A RiverHawk knows the impact they want to make and will put in the work to execute it and apply those choices to their future lives.”

Her spirited description of a RiverHawk mirrors the energy of Rouse who welcomed the opportunity to choose NSU for her college pathway.

“When making my college choice, it always felt right. The community spirit, the intimacy on campus and opportunities for leadership tilted the scale of pros and cons for me to choose Northeastern State University.”

Among the favorite chapters of her life, the 2025 graduate from Fort Gibson High School served as Junior Miss Cherokee in 2023 as a goodwill ambassador for the Cherokee Nation representing the culture and values of the Cherokee people. Now, as a college student and recipient of the Presidential Leadership scholarship, she takes an active role on the Tahlequah campus as a member of Delta Zeta sorority in addition to serving as a senator on the NSU Student Government Association as the chairman of the fiscal committee while majoring in Political Science with a minor in Indian studies.

With a never-ending passion to push beyond her own comfort levels, Addison took another opportunity to enter and eventually win the title as Miss NSU.

“The competition was heart stopping, challenging and rewarding including evening gown, talent, fitness and a private 10-minute interview with judges,” said Rouse in a voice of joy. “I was so excited to share my community service initiative Purposeful Paths where individuals can celebrate themselves while discovering their heritage.”

Addison will now represent NSU in the Miss Oklahoma pageant in June eager to share with everyone the answer to the ageless question…why choose NSU?

“The NSU campus and community is that perfect size where your absence in class and your organization is noticed but your efforts matter more. The intimacy of the campus combined with the heritage of the University creates RiverHawk pride where we all work together to achieve success now and in the future.”
