LOCUST GROVE PIRATES

Coach: KEITH WILSON

4-6

OFFENSE

The Pirates enter the 2025 season with a new captain of the ship as Keith Wilson takes the stern after a successful tenure as the defensive coordinator at Tahlequah.  Offensively, with just two returning starters, the Pirates game plan will operate from the spread formation with Logan Smallwood (5-9, 150, So.), a move in from Jenks, tabbed to be this year’s Pirate to engineer the offensive playmaking. “We want to get the ball out of the quarterback’s hands and into the grasp of as many running backs and receivers,” said Wilson. The primary target will be VYPE Top 100 candidate Ryan Summers (6-1, 170, Sr.), who averaged 14.3 yards per reception and who the coach is eager to see making game changing results this fall. “Ryan has the attitude of wanting to be great. He works harder than any athlete I’ve had in a long time.” The Pirates depth chart also includes Fuchi Lor (5-8, 145, Jr.) and Keeyon Stonecipher (6-3, 170, So.) at wide receiver while Isaac Torres (5-10, 160, So.) will get his hands on the ball at running back who plays with a “high motor” and is capable to take it to the end zone on any play. The Pirates coaching staff will have to rebuild the offensive front line this fall and have a solid foundation to build around with Reece Marble (6-3, 290, Sr.) back in the trenches who provide physical and mental toughness to the line of scrimmage conflicts.

DEFENSE

“The defense returns four starters to lead the efforts in this year’s 3-4 alignment that Wilson expects to run to the ball with relentless effort on every snap.  Chisholm Crisp (6-0, 215, Sr.) will provide an aggressive run stop effort from his inside linebacker position while Ayden Littledave (6-2, 190, Jr.) and Isaac Torres will patrol to the boundary against the run and pass from their outside linebacker assignments. Zaine Cagle (6-2, 200, Sr. will be responsible for guarding the gate on the line of scrimmage. Speed and strike force physical contact will result from the ball hawk efforts of strong safety Ryan Summers while Fuchi Lor will be tasked with lockdown coverage at cornerback.  “While there may not be a lot of people expecting much from a 4-6 team that has lost some key contributors, this year’s team has a very big chip on their shoulders to prove doubters wrong,” said Wilson. “This team will be a very tough, disciplined and play extremely hard. Locust Grove is looking to create some noise in class 3A and in what is a talent rich district again this season.”
