Emma Culie, a standout athlete at Sequoyah High School, has proven herself on the softball field with her relentless drive and passion for the game. As a junior, Emma takes on key roles, playing both catcher and shortstop for her team, a position of leadership and responsibility that she embraces with determination. But for Emma, the motivation goes beyond just individual success. “Making it to the next level and being the best for my teammates and coaches,” she said, is what truly pushes her to give her all.
Emma’s biggest influence comes from within her family. “My sister because I get to watch her play college softball and push through challenges. She is also my biggest supporter in everything I do,” she shared. This sisterly bond not only provides inspiration but also serves as a reminder of what hard work and perseverance can accomplish.
Emma also credits her father as the person who has had the greatest impact on her life: “My dad because he’s taught me many lessons and always pushes me to be the best.” His guidance has been instrumental in shaping her athletic and personal growth.
One of the proudest moments in Emma’s career came when she and her team made it to the state tournament last year, a testament to the countless hours of effort and commitment she’s put into her craft. “A lot of hard work and being committed to getting better” is what Emma believes has been the key to her success.
Outside of athletics, Emma is heavily involved in various campus activities, including the H.O.P.E. Club, student council, NHS, and FCA, showcasing her leadership off the field as well.
Recently, Emma made the exciting decision to commit to playing softball at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), a dream that she’s worked hard to achieve. Representing her school and community is something Emma holds close to her heart. “Playing and doing my best allows me to give back,” she said, aiming to make both her community and school proud with every game she plays. “The school is always supporting me and I’m just doing my best to make them proud.”
