Paizlee Zodrow, a basketball player at Keys High School, has been passionate about sports since childhood, growing up in a competitive and supportive family environment. “I come from a very competitive family. I am a very outgoing person and have lots of energy. My mom and dad played sports, and I started playing when I was like four. It was expected of me to play, but once I got older, I started enjoying and understanding the game even more,” she shares.
Paizlee credits her father as her biggest influence and role model. “My dad is the strongest person I know, and I have always looked up to him. He has always been there for me and my family no matter what. He has pushed me to be my best and has motivated me to be the best I can be.”
As a vocal and energetic leader on the team, Paizlee embraces her role. “I’m the loudest on my team, so I would say my role is probably the voice of the team. I will be hype for each and every single one of my teammates.” This close-knit team dynamic is a source of joy for her. “This team is very outgoing and fun. We have lots of fun and so many laughs together. We are always dancing, laughing, or just having fun together.”
One of Paizlee’s standout moments came this summer. “When we were at the Southeastern team camp, I dropped 30 points, and I just played really well that game,” she recalls.
Looking ahead, her goals are ambitious yet grounded. “My biggest goal would be to go to the state tournament, but I really just wanna make a name for this team and this program.” She also recognizes the value of community support. “It gives us more energy when we play and makes us happy knowing we have a community there supporting us.”
After high school, Paizlee hopes to continue playing basketball at the college level and pursue a degree that aligns with her interests. “I would love to go play sports in college for another four years. I would like to major in something that I would really like and try to start building my life after.”
