STILWELL LADY INDIANS
Coach: Matt Lea
Last Year: 6-20
The Lady Indians finished last year on a 50-50 rate of success following the Christmas break that for coach Matt Lea’s squad included winning a game in the regional tournament. Last year’s rookies are now this season’s veterans giving the Stilwell coach ample cause for optimism this year.
This year our players have a season full of lessons learned under their belt and are prepared to pick up where we left off last season,” Lea noted while pointing to the returning roster.
Last year’s leading scorer Ava Swafford (5-9,Jr.), a Top 100 nominee who averaged 10.3 points per game during her sophomore season will be counted upon to lead the Lady Indians scoring again this season.
“Ava also topped our stats in assists, steals, and 3 point percentage and will be a pillar of our offensive and defensive schemes and should be a major factor for the success of our team,” said Lea.
Mady George (5-6, Sr.) who showed an extreme amount of growth over the past season and the summer and will be another driving force enters this year averaging 5.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game.
“She plays the game exactly how we want to play and is setting herself up for an explosive senior campaign,” said Lea.
Kassidy Davis (5-9,Jr.) whose 3.5 rebounds per game was the second best average last season returns to the court.
“She also our leader in blocked shots and came into her role in a big way at the end of last year,” Lea said with appreciation.
Taylor Croley (5-4, Jr.) brings a year of experience at point guard returns along with Cali Stilwell (5-9, Jr.) a starter a year ago before an ankle injury sent her to the sideline as well as Bailey Phillips (5-5, Jr.) who brings a 3-point scoring threat to the court. Lea also expects Dally Davis (5-3, Jr.), Jaceline Swafford (5-7, Jr.), Miley Burns (5-3, So.) and Mady Longshore (5-10, So.) to expand their minutes on the court.
