Spiro’s Davis Carter – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Wright’s Sunset Corner Store

From T-ball at age three to his senior year at Spiro High School, baseball has always been at the heart of Davis Carter’s athletic career. “Baseball has always been my favorite sport.” What’s even more impressive? Davis’s mom was his first coach. “I wasn’t quite old enough, but my mom knew I was ready!” It’s clear that baseball is in his blood, but so is his drive for excellence—Davis is the valedictorian of his senior class, a testament to his commitment both on the field and in the classroom.

Davis’s leadership shines through, not just in his athletic performance, but in the way he fosters a supportive and tight-knit team environment. “Not only are we teammates, but we consider ourselves a family.” For Davis, the bond with his teammates goes beyond baseball. “We do much more together outside of baseball. We are all very supportive of each other in all areas!” As a leader on the team, he makes it his mission to lift up his teammates, whether they’re struggling on the field or dealing with personal challenges. “I strive to make my teammates better players on the field and better people at the same time. I am always lifting people up.”

When it comes to his personal goals, Davis is laser focused. “My goals for this season are to make a deep run in the postseason.”

The road hasn’t always been easy, though. During his sophomore year, Davis questioned whether he could balance sports and academics. “I was feeling stress from my advanced classes and didn’t think I would be able to devote the time needed for baseball and school.” Thankfully, his parents and coach helped him through that rough patch. “Luckily I have two amazing parents who would not let me quit,” he says. “My coach also worked with me. He was able to get a hotspot for me to use during our bus trips to work on my schoolwork.”

Davis’s hard work and perseverance paid off last season when he was selected 3A-7 All-District 1st baseman. Looking ahead, Davis sees a future grounded in both education and his love for his community. “I see myself with an electrical engineering degree, hopefully with a job around my hometown.”

When not on the field, Davis enjoys hanging out with family and friends, fishing, hunting, and running his own lawn care business. With his goals clearly set, Davis Carter is a student-athlete whose work ethic and character will leave a lasting impact on his community.
