Coach: DAVID HOGAN
3-7
OFFENSE
The Spiro Bulldogs will be looking to a number of underclassmen to step up in 2025 to replace key graduation losses as coach David Hogan begins his second year as the head coach. “Many of our underclassmen saw significant playing time last season which should help them move into those starting assignments this fall,” said Hogan. Four starters will be back to execute Hogan’s spread offense. That offense is anchored by senior running back Hayden Reed (5-9, 180). “Hayden played running back and wide receiver most of last season and is tough as nails and will not stop until you make him. He has the power to run between tackles as well as the wheels to take it to house from the edges,” said Hogan. “This year he will move into the quarterbacking role for us to utilize his running abilities and develop his passing skills. “Heading up the O-line for the Bulldogs will be a stronger and faster Kason Watts (6-1, 250, So.) and Joseph Poyner (6-0, 250, Jr.) at the guards with Colton Horn (6-2, 265, Sr.) at tackle. Senior Treyvin Ayala (5-7, 150) will help at either receiver or running back.
DEFENSE
Bend but not break is Hogan’s defensive philosophy out of the 4-3 set. “We want to fly to the ball and keep everything in front of us while making teams maintain sustained, long drives and capitalizing when they make a mistake.” The Bulldog defense looks to be strong from front to back with the return of Ja’Shawn Jones (6-2, 200, Sr.) who led the team in sacks with seven at an end spot. Braxon Sapp (5-8, 215, So.) and Josh Collins (5-8, 215, So.) had strong freshman campaigns at middle and outside linebackers, while Ayala, who Hogan calls the ultimate team player with a servant’s heart to lead, will head up the secondary. The Bulldogs hope to rebound from a disappointing season in 2024, and they’ll need the young bucks of last year to step up for their turn this year.
