BOYS

Coach: ZAC ROGERS

23-24 Record: 9-15

The Sallisaw Black Diamonds enter the 2024 basketball season with an exciting outlook, hoping to build on the momentum of their 10-win campaign last year. Under the leadership of new head coach Zac Rogers, who previously coached at UTSA, this senior-led team is focused on improving and competing at a high level within a tough conference. With a mix of experience and youth, Sallisaw’s roster has the tools to make significant strides this season. Coach Rogers is confident in his team’s potential, noting the leadership and versatility that his players bring to the table. “Cooper Jackson (6-1, Sr.) is our do-it-all point guard,” he said. “He has a high basketball IQ and is capable of making plays in any situation. Cooper Cox (6-3, Sr.) is a tough, hardworking athlete.” Brodie Cameron (6-2, Sr.) is an explosive forward who can stretch the floor. Sallisaw also expects big contributions from junior Tae Muskrat-Flynn (6-2, Jr.), a talented scorer who has the ability to lead the offense.

Sallisaw’s roster features a well-rounded group with strong upperclassmen. Jackson is the engine of the team, a reliable point guard who can score from all three levels and facilitate for his teammates. Cox is a physical presence in the post, while Cameron is known for his ability to stretch the defense with his quickness and shooting ability. The junior class, led by Muskrat-Flynn, adds another layer of depth and talent, especially with Muskrat-Flynn’s ability to score and contribute in various areas. Other players who will play significant roles this season include Brodi Nickell (5-7, So.), a hard-nosed defender, and Luke Pack (5-8, So.), a point guard with a great work ethic. Hayden Bullock (5-7, Sr.) and Kenyan Hill (5-7, So.) will also add depth to the guard position, with their shooting and defensive abilities. Ish Patel (6-0, Jr.) and Garrett Hatcher (6-2, So.) will also be valuable on the defensive side of the ball.
