Poteau’s Tyler Fassio – Football Spotlight – Presented by Wright’s Sunset Corner Store

For Tyler Fassio, being a senior at Poteau High School isn’t just about playing football—it’s about growth, leadership, and preparation for life beyond the game. Having played for 13 years, Tyler has developed a deep appreciation for what it means to be a student-athlete at Poteau. “The teachers and coaches here help you get ready for college and prepare you for the adult world,” he said.

Tyler takes immense pride in playing at home, where the energy from the crowd fuels his performance. “My favorite place to play is definitely at home because our community and atmosphere is amazing,” he explained. For Tyler, that home-field advantage is about more than just comfort—it’s about playing for a community that has his back.

On the field, Tyler shines in his roles as a linebacker and tight end, positions he’s proud to play. “There is no other position I’d rather play than those two,” he said. His approach to each game is intense and focused: “My thought process is to hit the guy with the ball so hard he doesn’t want it again and do a great job at tight end.” This determination reflects the hard-nosed mentality Tyler brings to every down.

Tyler’s father has been a constant source of motivation throughout his life. “My dad has had a big influence on my life, always pushing me to be the best I can be and letting me know when I’m not doing my best.” This strong guidance has shaped him into a leader on the field, where he holds his teammates to the same high standard of work ethic that he sets for himself. “I love how my teammates have great work ethic and never give up.”

Among his teammates, Tyler points to Ryder Waddell as someone who has particularly impressed him this season. Off the field, Hunter Myers keeps everyone laughing, while Tyler claims the title of “most serious.”

Tyler’s plans for the future are clear: after graduation, he aims to continue playing football and pursue a degree in psychology. No matter where life takes him, Tyler is confident that the lessons learned at Poteau will stay with him forever.
