Panama’s Hayven Hoffman – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Wright’s Sunset Corner

Leadership is a responsibility Panama’s Hayven Hoffman takes seriously every day on and off the field. “I strive to become a better leader every day,” she said. Whether in practice, games, or school activities, she aims to set the tone for her teammates and classmates.

The road through the season hasn’t been without its challenges, but Hoffman and her teammates always find ways to push forward together. “I think we have had a lot of ups and downs but always try to keep a positive attitude and lead each other to higher goals,” she said. That determination has allowed the team to stay on track as they chase their postseason dreams.

For Hoffman, unity is at the heart of their success. “We have all came together to strive for one goal,” she said. That goal has been built step by step throughout the season. “Our first goal was to achieve a district championship and then our second goal was to take care of a regional championship. Now, our third goal is to continue to improve and continue to keep winning. Come to practice every day with a good attitude to strive to get better.”

The way the team plays together is their greatest advantage. “Our biggest strength right now is we work well together and always make sure to hold each other accountable,” she said.

On the field, Hoffman makes her mark at first base. “I play first base,” she said. “I look for gaps in the field to see how the defense is playing me.” Beyond her individual role, she keeps the focus on leading by example. “To make sure to lead the team by example but also to make sure they are giving their all for the team.”

Hoffman wants to be remembered for her effort and commitment. “That I gave it my all for my team,” she said. And while Panama softball is driven to compete, the fun moments matter just as much. “We are a fun group and always like to have a good time. Laughing, singing, and cutting up on the bus with my friends.”

Looking ahead, the Panama senior has her sights set on more than athletics. “I plan to attend NSU and work to achieve my bachelor’s degree in speech pathology.”
