Coach: CHRIS FORD
6-5
OFFENSE
For the second straight year, coach Chris Ford guided the Razorbacks into the Class A playoffs last year where they fell in the first round to Pawnee. But with the loss of 20 seniors to graduation, 13 of them full or part time starters, and just four returning, 2025 may be one of those rebuilding years for Panama. “We were a little spoiled with that group of seniors that I’ve had since I first came here,” said Ford, “so this year I’ll have to earn my money,” laughed Ford. The first order of business will be establishing a quarterback to run Ford’s Gun-T offense, and Aryn Seamans (6-2, 190, Jr.), a three-sport athlete who was a receiver last year, is one of three guys in the hunt for that spot. Being versatile, mobile and dynamic will be keys to making offense go and one of the guys that whoever is QB will throw to is Ruben Morgan (6-1, 180, Jr.) who will also see some time at H-back. “Reuben is very athletic and hardnosed and this year we’re going to ask him to take on a bigger role as a player and a leader,” said Ford. There will be some experience in the O-line with the likes of Cannon Ysbrand (6-2, 225, Sr.), Kane Tulk (6-1, 220, Sr.) and Hunter Covey/Bond (6-1, 220, So.).
DEFENSE
After playing a 4-3 defense last season, Ford will return to the 3-4 look this year where Panama will play fast and physical with a team effort to swarm to the ball. Four starters return on this side of the ball like the offense led by Luke Restine (6-1, 245, Sr.) anchoring the defensive line while Morgan will be behind him at one of the linebacker spots. Seamans and Chris Gray (5-11, 165, Jr.) will lock down the secondary for the Razorbacks. “This year’s team will feature some new faces itching to get their turn,” said the fourth-year coach. “After graduating 20 seniors, several positions are open for new blood. It’s an exciting time to be a Razorback.”
