Heavener Wolves – Football Preview

Coach: JEFF BROYLES

5-5

OFFENSE

For the second straight year inexperienced might be the word to describe the Heavener Wolves as they go into the 2025 season. After going 7-4 two years ago, Heavener lost a lot of senior talent but still managed to fight to a break-even season. Again, graduation took many of the skilled players leaving coach Jeff Broyles just four seniors and four juniors plus a bunch of sophomores and freshmen to form this year’s edition of the Wolves. Just three starters are back on offense led by VYPE TOP 100 pick Jerami Casteel (6-5, 300, Sr.) at offensive tackle. He is a four-year starter for the Wolves and is being heavily recruited by Tulsa, OSU, Northwestern State, Iowa State and NEO. The only skill position player back is Brayden Semore (5-11, 180, Jr.) who had 18 catches for 200 yards last season at wide receiver, and he will take over the quarterback spot this year. Developing a running back and more linemen will be the task at hand for Broyles and his staff this summer.

DEFENSE

Things aren’t much rosier on the defensive side of the ball for the Wolves with just three starters back. Casteel will again man the defensive line and Spencer Clubb (5-9, 170, Sr.) and Willie Dehart (5-10, 175, Jr.) will return at linebackers in Broyle’s 4-2-5 defense. Clubb had 68 tackles, two forced fumbles and an interception last season while Dehart turned in 75 tackles for the Wolves. It will be up to the underclassmen to rise to the occasion for Heavener this season and bring some talent while gaining experience that will be around for more than one season. If there’s a silver lining for Heavener is that they’ll have four of their first six games at home which should help the newcomers settle in.
