POCOLA INDIANS
Head Coach: Derek Barlow
Last Year: 23-7
The Indians trail to return to the state tournament begins with a remodeled roster force to replace three starters from a year ago. “We’re not starting over but this year’s lineup will have different look,” said head coach Derek Barlow, now in his sixth year at Pocola. “Because of our success in football this season, we won’t have the majority of our lineup on the court until early December. We face the challenge of learning to play together and working to uphold the standards that our previous groups have established.”
A big cause for the Indians continuing their winning ways is the size and skills of VYPE Top 100 nominee DaQuayne Terrell (6-6, Sr.) who will take advantage of his length and athleticism at a guard position.
“DQ” is a hard-working senior that has grown about a foot in the last 18 months. He is a very good shooter, scorer, and rebounder that will help our team in numerous ways,” explained Barlow. “DQ continues to work on getter stronger and adding muscle, which can be difficult when he has been adding height like he has. We feel that DQ is going to have an outstanding senior season and go to play basketball at the next level.”
