OUTLOOK
The Howe Lions enter the new season with renewed optimism, fueled by returning experience, improved depth, and a strong freshman class that has energized the program. Head coach Britt Brown believes this group has the potential to take a major step forward. “We return three starters and seven of top 10 with a really good freshman class and a few new ones,” Brown said. “The expectations are to have a chance at being good if everyone gels and we continue working hard every day.”
The Lions will be led by senior guard Reece Harrison (6-1, Sr.), a three-year starter who averaged 12 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists last season. With improved depth around him, Brown expects Harrison to elevate his production even further, calling him “a bigger guard that can score in multiple ways… a phenomenal kid and great leader” who “lives in the gym.”
Joining him in the senior class is Ethan Dalton (6-1, Sr.), a versatile forward who contributed 7.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, and Wesley Toney (6-0, Sr.), a dynamic guard who added 8.2 points, 2.1 assists, and 2.1 steals. Trey Hildebrant (6-4, Sr.) gives Howe size in the paint after posting 1.9 points and 2.2 rebounds.
The junior group adds important stability, led by Gavin Lute (6-2, Jr.), who averaged 2.3 points and 1.1 rebounds, and Aiden Scott (6-0, Jr.), who chipped in 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds. Their experience and physical maturity will play a key role as Howe builds a more complete rotation.
Howe also features an underclassman to watch in Brett Barnhart (5-11, Fr.), a young guard expected to earn minutes on a deep roster. Brown praised him as a “great shooter who puts in the work,” and believes his development will further strengthen the Lions’ backcourt.
With returning starters, improved depth, and a coach confident in their potential, the Howe Lions enter the 2025 season with momentum. “The expectations are to have a chance at being good,” Brown emphasized — and Howe has the pieces to make that happen.
