Wilson (Henryetta)’s Jaslene Proctor – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Bravado Wireless

Some athletes talk about talent. Others talk about work ethic. For Wilson Henryetta senior Jaslene Proctor, it all starts somewhere more spiritual. “My personal goals this season are to do everything with God as my foundation,” she said.

That foundation extends beyond her own performance to the team as a whole. “Coach Taiah Proctor has kept us more focused with our mindset, workouts and practices,” Proctor shared. The impact has been clear as the Lady Mustangs have sharpened their play this year. “Our team’s communication has improved on and off the field.”

For Proctor, the standard isn’t just about winning—it’s about chasing the biggest stage. “One of the team’s goals is to make it to the state tournament. We’ve been working towards that goal by working diligently in practice and having a good mindset.” She credits the team’s resilience on the defensive side as a major key to their progress. “Our defense,” she said simply, “is our biggest strength.”

Her role is vital in multiple spots on the diamond. “I play third base and pitcher.” When she steps into the box, her eyes are always working. “I like to look at their positioning on the field and how they react to pitches when thrown. Are they ready with every pitch or not.”

Preparation is another area she takes seriously. “I like to stretch more, while also making sure to stay hydrated.” That allows her to keep her focus sharp once the game begins. “I like to take it one play at a time and strive to do the best that I can.”

Leadership is where she hopes to leave her mark. “I want to be known as the leader who never wavered and remained calm.” Proctor explained that the team’s chemistry is special. “We are a very close group of friends!”

When it comes to game day energy, she has her go-to. “3AM – King Von,” she said. And as for memories, one moment stands above the rest. “Currently, my favorite memory is hitting a walk-off home run against a ranked opponent at the time.”
