WILSON-HENRYETTA TIGERS

BOYS

Coach: GRANT PROCTOR

23-24: Record: 30-2

Things can’t look much brighter for a team when they return all of their starters from a team that won a state championship in 2023, but that’s exactly the outlook for the Wilson-Henryetta Tigers. And what makes it unique is that four of the five returners for the reigning state champs are brothers- the Shelburn brothers to be exact. Charles, a senior; Ke’shon, a junior, and twins Zion and Za’brien, both sophomores. Needless to say, coach Grant Proctor is pretty optimistic as he faces the 2024 campaign.

“The Tigers return everyone from a successful 2023 campaign, and we’ll play an up-tempo game as we go for the repeat.”

Charles (5-10) is a four-year starter for the Tigers, has been a team captain for three years, is a 1000- point career scorer and led the team in scoring and assists for two years.

“Charles plays with an extremely high motor and is as unselfish as they come,” said Proctor. “He is a lockdown defender and can score the ball or get it to his teammates with ease.”

Za’brien led the team in scoring last year, averaging 19 points per game as a freshman and was the state tournament co-MVP along with his brother Ke’shon and will probably be one of the top players in the state in the class of 2027.

“Za’brien is the most competitive player every time he steps on the court and is not afraid of the big moment,” says Proctor.

Ke’shon, as mentioned was the state tournament co-MVP last year, averaging 17 points a game while leading the Tigers in rebounds and blocked shots.

“He is a calming presence for the Tigers and an anchor on defense,” said Proctor. “He is a three-tier scorer with a smooth stroke from the outside and the ability to play above the rim inside.”

Proctor says that Zion is the best defender on the team, often taking on the opponent’s best player. He averaged 15 points a game his freshman year with 2.5 steals a game. The fifth returning starter is Andrew Wilson (6-3, Jr.).

With all of this returning talent it’s hard to imagine anyone being able to stop this juggernaut from reaching the throne room for the second straight year.
