“We are a large squad for our school,” said Weleetka head cheer coach Jessica Sheneman. “We have 22 girls which is the most our school has had since I’ve been coaching for about 18 years.”
Sheneman said the program has recently focused on building spirit and pride on campus. “The last few years we haven’t competed and just focused on increasing school spirit,” she said, noting that enthusiasm and support for Weleetka athletics has been the primary mission for her group.
That focus will remain, but the Outlaws are also ready to step back onto the competition floor. “Although school spirit is still our primary goal we will also be competing in the OSSAA Gameday competition,” Sheneman said.
With 22 cheerleaders – the largest roster Sheneman has coached – Weleetka brings depth, energy and numbers to both the stands and the mat as the Outlaws balance their traditional role of leading spirit with the renewed challenge of OSSAA Gameday competition.
