For Okmulgee junior Keonte Youngblood, this season is about more than just football—it’s about creating opportunities for the future. “I want to get some highlights so I can go to college,” Youngblood said.
That motivation has been echoed by his teammates in the way they’ve shown up this year. “They really were coming to practice and wanted to play football,” he said. “That’s been the difference.”
The Bulldogs broke through with a win last season after a long drought, and Youngblood said it was a moment he won’t forget. “I learned a lot from last year and we were able to win.”
This year, he hopes to see his team take things a step further. “To really see if my team can go to college,” Youngblood said. “That would mean a lot.”
Youngblood’s impact comes from playing both sides of the ball. “Wide receiver and safety,” he said. “When I read it, I’m looking for a pick-six or a big hit.”
On the offensive side, his mindset is locked in from the snap. “I’m ready score every time I catch the ball,” Youngblood said.
Preparation is simple for him, but it keeps him ready. “I really just listen to music,” he said.
Beyond the field, he hopes his presence leaves a lasting impact for those who follow. “That I put up record numbers and get more kids involved in the program,” Youngblood said. “That’s what I want my legacy to be.” He knows the Bulldogs aren’t perfect, but he’s confident they’re making progress. “But we’re working,” Youngblood said.
Through it all, the junior embraces representing Okmulgee. “I look good in red, white and black,” he said with a smile.
Youngblood is a multi-sport athlete who also runs track and plays basketball, bringing the same energy to every arena he competes in.
